About Wilkerson Moravian Bakery

Celebrating 100 years and counting of family baking! For a century, baking has been our family’s way of life. What began with our great-grandfather’s determination to perfect a spice cookie and sugar cake in Winston-Salem has grown into a five-generation legacy of Moravian baked goods loved across North Carolina and beyond.

He wasn’t famous — not at first. :) He was just patient, precise, and dangerously good with spice. But his pursuit of perfection turned that cookie into a legend — The Thinnest of All®, and it turned his sugar cake into a warm tradition celebrated at kitchen tables across the state and country.

I ordered a sheet cake for a gender reveal party. They wanted a pink lemonade cake, but not pink icing. Since we didn’t know what the gender was, so we left it white. The bakery also offered to make the cake the color of the gender, but we did not want to do that in this case. The staff was wonderful to work with and offered up suggestions that were appreciated. There were absolutely no leftovers as this cake was delicious. Highly recommend this bakery for all your needs. I’ve also enjoyed their cookies and they’re fabulous. All the flavors are fantastic.

I highly recommend visiting and experiencing their warm welcome and delightful cookies for yourself.

Yelp surprises as always and presents amazing places! This bakery is super traditional, but since I hadn't had many opportunities to visit places in Winston before, I really didn't know it. I was surprised by the quality of the products, the beauty and organization of the store. In addition, the owner is extremely kind and attentive, guided me through the options and even told me a little about the century-old history of the place. We tried the Moravian sugar cake which is fabulous and a spicy latte! Best combination ever! I also couldn't resist and got a cookie and gingerbread biscuits! I loved it and will definitely be back.

I had tried the regular Moravian cookies before, but had never been in their actual store. From the moment you walk in you feel like you’re in a winter wonderland. They go all out on the Christmas decor with numerous trees & Moravian stars surrounding you. The sweet smell of the sugar cake abounds in the air. The staff immediately greats you and are constantly making sure you are being helped. The various flavors of cookies make it hard to decide which to get. Luckily they have a cookie tasting station where you get whole cookies to try! I ended up buying 4 different flavors as they were all delicious. I also got the Moravian sugar cake…..against my doctor’s orders….but hey, that’s what my insulin is for! In all seriousness, the cake is savory with a hint of cinnamon and possibly caramel as a secret ingredient. It literally melts in your mouth. I enjoyed it with my iced spiced coffee as I relaxed with my wife in their cozy lounge surrounded by their awesome Christmas decorations. I felt like we were at home, only thing missing was a cozy fireplace. They definitely earned a new customer because that cake & cookies will go quick in my home!

Ohmygoodness, the flavors! Every year we take the Moravias Sugar Cake to the family Christmas get-together. But the store has coffee, cookies, canoli, cupcakes, cheese straws and more!
